Every day across the South West, more people are finding themselves without a safe place to stay. Homelessness is rising sharply, and behind every statistic is someone who has faced trauma, crisis, or deep vulnerability. Julian House stands beside those individuals, ensuring no one has to face hardship alone.
As a leading regional charity, Julian House provide life‑changing accommodation and specialist support for people experiencing homelessness, escaping domestic abuse, leaving prison, rebuilding after trauma, or seeking safety as refugees. The need for our services continues to grow—rough sleeping is at its highest level in a decade, and our hostel, providing emergency shelter for rough sleepers has been operating at over 115% capacity this Winter to keep people safe.
This was the crisis facing Hamish when he arrived at our off-the-streets hostel in Bath last year. He was cold, malnourished and in visible distress. Our hostel support workers – together with partner agencies and our own Travelling Communities Outreach team – supported Hamish to get back on his feet, regain his health and establish a long-term social care plan in the community. We were even able to move him into his own caravan, amongst his old friends and support networks, with his beloved dog, Winnie.
